Programming

All day long at work I spend my time architectinging, engineering, developing, and coding. I'm a programmer. But when I get home is when the real fun starts. I leave the office in Saint Paul, come back home to my cozy nest in Minneapolis, log onto my workstation, and do more programming.

Mostly, of course, it's a bunch of crap; but if I ever manage to finish something that I think other people might be slightly interested in, I might toss it up here. Be sure to note the caveat in the sidebar. All software is free and freely distributable; just give me proper credit.

Greasemonkey Scripts
If you have Firefox and aren't using the Greasemonkey add-on you had better have a good reason. Here are some scripts that I have written.

MP4 Atom Extractor Library
I looked all over and couldn't find a .NET library to extract meta data from MP4 files, so I built my own. And you're welcome to use it, too.

iPod Music Liberator
DEPRECATED. ~~A somewhat specific tool for liberating media files from the crappy iTunes/iPod file structure. It uses the meta data of the actual media files to construct a much more reasonable directory structure.~~

XSL Transformer
Development tool for executing XSL transforms against XML data.

Rapid RegEx Developer
Development tool for quickly writing regex expressions.

iPhone Web Development - VegGuide Maps App
I recently acquired an iPhone and have, naturally, become interested in customizing my web apps for it. My most recently iPhone web app is a slick version of my VegGuide Maps utility.

Renamerator
A util that permits arbitrarily complex mass file renames.

Minneapolis Snow Emergency Web Page Widget
A little web page widget I built that will tell you whether or not a snow emergency is in effect for the city of Minneapolis.

OKCupid Quickmatch Username Extractor Firefox Extension
I wrote a little Firefox extension that extracts the username of the current "QuickMatch" user.

Farkel
A simple little dice game.

VegGuide Map
A virtual burrito made of VegGuide and Google Maps. Now: Version 2!

JPG to AVI
Again; frustrated by the lack of a decent tool to convert a series of JPG files into an AVI I wrote my own.

Time Lapser
I didn't like any of the available "freeware" webcam/time laspe utilites I was able to find so I wrote my own.

Arctic Othello
I wanted to teach Andy how to play Othello so I wrote this game.

Foreman
Utility to make band rehearsal more efficient: randomly selects songs to practice.

ED Golf
Text graphics DOS mini golf game I wrote in 1995.

Wav Scrambler
Randomly play back snippets of WAV files.

vSamp
Very simple virtual sampler. I wrote this so that I could trigger samples while playing drums in Psychopop.

Chop
Randomly rearrange chunks of audio data in 8 & 16 bit mono WAV files.
