Burning Man '04
9/13/2004 6:10 PM

If you don't already know what Burning Man is, you're going to have to look elsewhere for a description.  I don't have the time or bandwidth to bring you up to speed.

In any case, here are some photos and things.

Mostly pictures from inside our cargo van.
A tunnel through some mountains! Salt Lake Allison - this nice girl we hunted down in Salt Lake City. She let us use her garden hoses to fill up our water jugs.

A day of setting up domes and getting acquainted with the area.
Group of us standing around in our land grab. Setting up the dome. Still setting up the dome.

Exploring.
Matt going his juggling. I was probably goading him up to five clubs around this time. A metal boat. It's a monster shaped bike. The wheels are ratcheted, so it moves by wiggling back and forth. Not speedy, but pretty cool.

Playing.
Some burner examining Aaron's locker-art installation. Each locker was filled with 80-90s era school-related material collected from his friends' archives. It was a big hit. Party Bus! Another roving bar. I don't know how many of these things there wre.

The precious last days.
Thunderdome! I was about halfway up and took this shot. Two of my friends were battling the previous night, but my camera wasn't working then so I have no proof. (There were more people climbing about that night, too, so it was a lot more Bartertown-esque.) DeathGuild guy playing on one of the bungee harnesses. Aaron's lockers at more of a distance; to provide an "establishing shot".

Ideas for BM05
This being my first year, I didn't feel obligated or prepared to construct any significant interactive "art". I hope next year will be different.  I'm keen on doing at least one of these things: a mutant vehicle (requirements: something that can take on several passengers and won't look like whatever car body I build it on) or a tower (like our neighbors, only less intimidating to wusses like me). I'm open to suggestions.
